Our bodies are primarily made up of water, which is why it is essential to make sure you are getting enough of it! Staying hydrated is one of the easiest (and cheapest) things you can do to keep yourself healthy. Drinking enough water can help to eliminate muscle pain, constipation, kidney stones and provides your body with the fluid your blood needs to get to vital organs.
Although drinking Tea, Juice, and Coffee provides you with some water, chances are if this is all you drink you are dehydrated. These drinks can dehydrate you more in the long run with the harmful chemicals and additives that are used for flavoring. If you drink water regularly, it is okay to splurge and have these drinks on occasion (although it is best to try and avoid sugary drinks completely).
When you become dehydrated, your body mistakes it for hunger causing you to eat more. When you are going to reach for a bag of chips, just pick up a glass of water instead and see if the craving passes. The chemical additives used in diet drinks actually increase this effect of dehydration, so in the long run you get the opposite of what you are trying to do by drinking diet!
Drinking water is the one of the best things you can do for yourself, and you should make it a priority. Some fruits and vegetables also have a high water content and if you eat them regularly you can get the benefits of drinking water without actually doing it. Some of my favorites include rasberries, watermelon, cabbage and zucchini.
To maintain your wellbeing and keep everything running smoothly, be sure to stay hydrated. Know that if you have been out in the sun, or exercising, you will need to drink extra water. Of course, if you have had a massage you need to increase your water intake for the next 24 hours to help your kidneys filter through the metabolic waste products that massage releases from the tissues. Cheers!
