This time of year I start to get a lot of requests for juicing and smoothie recipes. I juice or drink green smoothies at least 5 days a week. It is such an easy way to get in essential vitamins and nutrients that we miss through our regular diet. You can concoct your juices around specific things you are trying to accomplish, whether it is weight-loss, metabolism or energy boost or decreasing inflammation throughout your body.
I do advise looking at the "Clean 15/ Dirty Dozen" list of vegetables so you know which ones to buy organic. Vegetables on the Dirty Dozen list have the highest levels of pesticides, even after washing, so you want to be sure to buy those organic. Your smoothies can become the most important tool in your medicine cabinet, so use your ingredients wisely!
At my house, we have a juicer and a bullet, that we alternate between using. Once you have been committed to juicing, you will probably wind up with both tools in your kitchen too! The biggest differences I have noticed since starting to juice 2 years ago is better skin, better digestion, increased energy, and less tension throughout my body.
Remember each fruit, vegetable, or seed that you use has a different healing property. Research the best ingredients for your smoothies based on the goals you want to accomplish.
